In May 2017 Zone Golf Academy brought in 2 Ivy League coaches, which was the 4th time in 4 years. Coach Michael Hughes, the Men’s Brown Golf Coach and Coach Erika DeSanty, Princeton Women’s. Coach were our guests for 2 and a half days.
Exposure to these coaches and for parents to meet them and ask questions about recruiting, campus life, and to ask in general what does it take to be receive a Likely Letter (admission ticket) is critical to the recruiting process.
The first portion of the camp is a meet and greet opportunity for both parents and players. Each Coach talks about their university. Then we have an open forum and we have a Q and A period. We have added a write a question before hand and submit to Coach TJ for those not wanting to speak in public.
We train in the Indoor studio, at the Richmond Driving Range and then off for lunch. 18 holes consists of day 1 and on day 2 we run a similar camp but play 9 holes and then come back to the Range again to work on items.
Overall, the coaches get to know each player individually and they short list player’s starting from grades 4 and up. A lot of their recruiting comes from camps. Coaches want to have a good rapport with players and pick Nice players. This is an excellent opportunity for athletes to get connected.
Zone Golf Academy will continue to bring USA Coaches to our academy in years to come.
